Russia takes the ninth place in the world on costs of science

According to Institute of statistical researches and economy of knowledge of Higher School of Economics National Research University (ISIEZ) accumulating indicators of OECD, UNESCO, Eurostat and Rosstat for 2015 in world top-20 on costs of research and development Russia was placed on the ninth place ($40,5 billion). It has appeared between Great Britain and Brazil. A gap with the first three of rating is considerable: the third place at Japan ($166,9 billion), the second has China ($368,7 billion), the leader is the USA ($457 billion).
The share of costs of researches and developments in GDP of the country is indicative in this regard. In this cut Russia from 1,13% takes only the 34th place in the world, conceding to New Zealand and advancing Lithuania. Leaders are South Korea (4,29%), Israel (4,11%), Japan (3,59%). In the rating the USA are the 11th (2,74%), China is the 17th (2,05%).
