Influence of Russia’s entry to WTO on Tatarstan economy discussed at a session of Economic Council under Tatarstan Cabinet of Ministers

On May 26, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov, Director of the Department of trade negotiations of Russian Ministry of Economic Development Maksim Medvedkov took part in a session of Economic Council under Tatarstan Cabinet of Ministers dedicated to the influence of Russia’s entry to WTO on Tatarstan economy.
Head of territorial branch of Federal state statistics service Valery Kandilov reported on results of monitoring of activity of producers of export-oriented and socially important goods in 2013. In particular, he presented changes in import of goods to the Republic of Tatarstan in 2013 as compared to 2012.
Minister of Industry and Trade Ravil Zaripov told about consequences of Russia’s entry to WTO for industrial sector.
Minister of Agriculture and Food Marat Akhmetov, in his turn, told about the situation in the sphere of agricultural production. He noted that Russia’s entry to WTO and Customs Union was meant to increase competition, however no sharp increase of imports is observed. He also mentioned that at the same time measures of state support reduced. Marat Akhmetov continued that in order to stay competitive agricultural industry requires technical modernization.
Maksim Medvedkov briefly described economic situation under WTO conditions.
Summing up, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov said that it is important to continue monitoring activity of producers of export-oriented goods.
As part of the program, the Minister visited the Arsky Industrial Park, where he got acquainted with the current activities and long-term plans of the residents. During the inspection of the production facilities, Midkhat Shagiakhmetov held a substantive discussion with the heads of enterprises on capacity expansion and improving the efficiency of using the existing infrastructure.
Applications for the Start-Digital Technologies-1 competition (turn 2) are being accepted on the website of the Innovation Promotion Foundation until February 24. Individuals and legal entities, small business entities, can participate in it.
Rustem Mukhamedshin, Director of the Guarantee Fund of the Republic of Tatarstan, took part in a large–scale event - the strategic session of the Association of Small and Medium-sized Businesses of the Republic of Tatarstan, which took place on January 30, 2026 in Kazan at the Entrepreneur's House.
