The tourist flow is growing in Tatarstan

The Republic of Tatarstan actively participates in the implementation of the activities of the national project "Tourism and Hospitality". Thanks to a focused strategy, Tatarstan has been able to achieve significant results over the past decade: the tourist flow to the region has increased almost 2 times.

In 2025, under an agreement with the Ministry of Economic Development of Russia, more than 276 million rubles were allocated to support the republic's tourism industry. In addition, a competitive selection of projects for the creation of modular homes was launched in 2024. The collection of applications for participation was closed in April of this year. According to the results of the competition, 29 Tatarstan projects received financing totaling more than 536 million rubles.

112 million rubles will be allocated to the Volga State University of Physical Culture, Sports and Tourism as part of the federal initiative "Personnel for Tourism". These funds will be used to implement additional education, professional retraining and advanced training programs.

Thanks to the implementation of support programs over the past decade, the tourist flow to the republic has grown almost 2 times, the volume of services provided in the field of tourism has increased by the same amount, taking into account related industries, and the number of rooms has also increased almost twofold.

Tatarstan currently ranks 7th in Russia in terms of tourist flow, after Moscow and the Moscow Region, St. Petersburg and the Leningrad Region, Krasnodar Territory and Crimea. The republic is the leader in the Volga Federal District.

Tatarstan ranked 6th in the Russian Federation in terms of room stock (after Moscow and the Moscow Region, St. Petersburg, Krasnodar Territory and Crimea) and 1st in the Volga Federal District.

Tourists from all regions of Russia come to Tatarstan, the largest tourist flow is from Moscow and the Moscow region, St. Petersburg and the Leningrad Region, the Republic of Bashkortostan, the Nizhny Novgorod Region, the Sverdlovsk Region, the Samara Region, the Ulyanovsk Region, the Republic of Mari El, the Republic of Chuvashia, as well as from foreign countries.

The main tourist centers of the Republic of Tatarstan today are: Kazan, Veliky Bolgar, Ostrov-grad Sviyazhsk, Yelabuga, Tetyushi, Chistopol. The Kama Estuary, Alekseevskoye, Laishevo, and Mamadysh have significant tourist potential.
