Tatarstan in the top three regions in terms of the number of small technology companies

The number of small technology companies (STCs) is growing in Tatarstan. Over the past year, their number in the region doubled, which allowed the republic to maintain one of the leading positions in Russia.

The first and second places were taken by Moscow and St. Petersburg, respectively. In 2025, the number of ITCs in Russia reached 5046 companies. The task within the framework of the federal project “Technologies” of the national project “Efficient and Competitive Economy” is to increase this figure to 12 thousand companies by 2030.

In Tatarstan, the number of ITCs has almost doubled over the year, if in June last year their number reached 100 units, then as of the same period in 2025 - increased to 193 companies.

The top 3 industry areas in Tatarstan in which ITCs are developing production include information and communication technologies, industry and healthcare.

High indicators of ITC development due to government support measures in Tatarstan were noted by Maxim Kolesnikov, First Deputy Minister of Economic Development of Russia, at the Board of the Ministry of Economy of the Republic of Tatarstan in February.

To support and develop ITC as the main driver of technological entrepreneurship, an ecosystem approach is being implemented, the essence of which is to provide companies with end-to-end support measures at each stage of development, both at the federal and regional levels.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy of Tatarstan Midkhat Shagiakhmetov also noted during the February Collegium of the Ministry of Tatarstan that the ITC status allows unhindered access to support measures without additional collection of documents and confirmations. Companies from Tatarstan take an active part in the grant program for additional nurturing of technology companies to meet the requirements of large Russian corporations.

A range of federal support measures is also available: from soft loans to the status of Skolkovo participant.

Let us remind you that more than 30% of ITCs in Russia became suppliers of the largest state customers in 2024. In Tatarstan last year, 58 companies became suppliers of goods and services for government customers for the amount of 3.54 billion rubles.
