On May 27, 2025, the State Committee of the Republic of Tatarstan for Tourism held a meeting with representatives of municipalities on the development of tourism and hospitality in the region.
The event was attended by Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Tatarstan - Minister of Economy of the Republic of Tatarstan Midkhat Shagiakhmetov.
There is a significant increase in the tourist flow in the republic. It is projected to reach 4.4 million people in 2025, which is 11 times higher than in 2005. Tatarstan's tourism industry employs more than 45,000 people, and the republic ranks 7th in Russia in terms of tourist flow.
During the meeting, the participants discussed potential growth points of tourist flow in municipal areas, identified constraints to development and necessary support measures.
In the coming years, a number of major projects will be implemented in the republic, including the creation of the Kazan Marina tourist area in Laishevsky district with a total investment of more than 24 billion rubles. The development of the interregional tourist project "The Great Volga Way", which received the status of a national tourist route in 2023, will also continue.
Following the meeting, priority areas of work were identified to increase the tourist flow in the Republic of Tatarstan and further strengthen its position among the leading tourist regions of Russia.
