On the eve of the 80th anniversary of the Victory, the Ministry of Economy of the Republic of Tatarstan held a meeting with veterans of the department, whose childhood and youth fell during the Great Patriotic War.
They survived the war as children, and subsequently devoted their working lives to the development of our country's economy.
They are living witnesses of history, who, despite severe trials, managed to build a great power and lay the foundations of the modern economic system of the country.
The veterans shared their memories of everyday work, about how their childhood passed during the war. Each of them accompanied his father or a close relative to the front — everyone has their own story.
Such meetings help to truly realize the scale of the people's feat and the value of peaceful life. When you listen to the living stories of people who survived the war, you understand what previous generations worked for.
At the end of the meeting, the veterans were presented with memorable gifts. And those who could not take part in person, we visited at home.
Since 2011, with the support of the Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Tatarstan, Minister of Economy of the Republic of Tatarstan Midkhat Shagiakhmetov, the Ministry has organized a Council of Veterans, chaired by Lyudmila Alexandrovna Golitsina, who has devoted 29 years to working in the Ministry. The Council initiates and participates in the organization of the body's anniversaries and commemorations, as well as maintains continuous communication with veterans.
It is our duty to preserve the memory of the heroic deed of the people and pass it on to the next generations. This connection of times is the basis of our national identity.
