25 April 2024, Thursday

On April 25, within the framework of the Russian Venture Forum, the Ministry of Economy of the Republic of Tatarstan held a round table on the current state of the intellectual property market in Russia, tools and platforms, directions for improving legislation and regulatory framework. The moderator of the event was Arsen Savva, director of "TSNTI RT" State Institute. The participants of the round table were experts and business representatives.

Chairman of the Public Council of Rospatent, Vice-President of the public organization "Support of Russia" Natalia Zolotykh raised the topic of legal protection and transfer of intellectual property in the context of sanctions pressure.

"Today, the issue of import substitution is particularly acute due to the impossibility of using imported components and materials and the lack of their production in the Russian Federation. Due to such "special conditions", it is necessary to use our own developments for business development and go our own way of development," Natalia Zolotykh noted.

Sergey Mayorov, Chairman of the Board of the Industrial Cluster of the Republic of Tatarstan, Adviser to the Minister of Industry and Trade of the Republic of Tatarstan, made a report on intellectual property as a means of attracting investments.

"Not all enterprises understand the importance of intangible assets (IA) for improving the company's performance to investors and creditors, obtaining economic benefits through tax optimization, protecting the market for their products, ensuring the sustainability of profit generation, as well as developing the competitiveness of the enterprise as a whole. There are a number of opportunities for owners of IP facilities that allow them to commercialize and replicate products including IP facilities in the region, in Russia, with the prospect of entering the international market without the risk of competitors seizing their products," Sergey Mayorov said.

The following issues were also discussed during the round table:

Problems with developments in the field of artificial intelligence (AI), regulation and development of judicial practice in this area;

Student and scientific startups and setting up business, opportunities and growth indicators in terms of intellectual property;

Practical aspects of scientific and technical development of industrial enterprises in the context of sanctions restrictions.

Following the results of the round table, experts developed recommendations on updating a set of measures to create favorable conditions for the activation of investment and innovation activities, as well as the development of the intellectual property market.
