The results of the activities of special economic zones and an assessment of their effectiveness were announced by the Ministry of Economic Development of Russia as part of the presentation of the VI National Rating of Special Economic Zones together with the Association of Clusters, Technoparks and SEZs of Russia (AKIT).

The leaders of the National rating of investment attractiveness of special economic zones of the Russian Federation of the industrial production type are the SEZ "Lipetsk" and the SEZ "Alabuga" of the Republic of Tatarstan. In 2022, a total of 28 SEZs from 22 regions of Russia were assessed.

“The SEZ mechanism continues to show its self-sufficiency for the state budget. The volume of payments paid to the budget by SEZ residents is already almost 3 times higher than the amount of benefits received. Due to state support, residents reimbursed their costs for creating jobs and manufacturing products, and the state returned all allocated funds to the budget in full,” said Dmitry Vakhrukov, Deputy Minister of Economic Development of the Russian Federation.

The assessment was made taking into account a number of criteria, including the quality of interaction with investors and the provision of sites with infrastructure. SEZ "Alabuga" includes 57 residents and 33 operating plants.

"SEZ" Alabuga has repeatedly confirmed its effectiveness, becoming the leader in the rating of investment attractiveness of the country's special economic zones. During its successful operation, Alabuga has made a significant contribution to the economy of the republic - today the volume of private investments of residents has exceeded 160 billion rubles. On the territory of the SEZ there are import-substituting industries that are leaders in their industries. The economic zone has the potential necessary for the successful implementation of investment projects - a developed infrastructure, a skilled workforce, preferences and a strong management team," said Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of Economy of the Republic of Tatarstan Midkhat Shagiakhmetov.
