17 April 2020, Friday

The Single-industry Towns Development Fund accumulates proposals of single-industry towns for measures to support business in order to minimize damage from the spread of coronavirus. Meetings in the online format will be held for the heads of single-industry towns with the Deputy Chairman of VEB.RF, General Director of the МОНОГОРОДА.РФ Fund, Irina Makiyeva.

On April 20, an online meeting will be held with seven single-industry towns of the Republic of Tatarstan. This meeting is relevant for business in single-industry towns, the economic situation in which is particularly susceptible to negative influences due to the epidemiological situation.

Let us recall that new opportunities for development of the economy of single-industry towns appeared thanks to support programs of the Single-industry Towns Fund, and the Ministry of Economy of the Republic oversees this activity in Tatarstan. Thus, with assistance of the Fund, they implemented a number of major projects for reconstruction of key roads in Naberezhnye Chelny and Nizhnekamsk and creation of the engineering and road infrastructure of the industrial parks “Development”, “Haier’, “Nizhnekamsk’ and “Zelenodolsk”. This year, engineering networks will be built for the wholesale distribution center in Elabuga. The total amount of these projects amounted to 3.5 billion rubles, including 2.5 billion rubles from the Fund’s budget.

It is worth noting that implementation of these projects has already allowed to create about 5 thousand new jobs and attract more than 23.5 billion rubles of investment. In addition, enterprises of the republic are actively participating in the Fund's programs for raising borrowed funds.

Despite the difficult socio-economic situation, the Republic of Tatarstan, with assistance of the Fund, continues to implement joint projects aimed at attracting investment, creating new jobs and, ultimately, diversifying the economy of single-industry towns.
