18 August 2017, Friday

The cooperation of Rospatent and RSSU will be directed "towards the development of joint projects in the scientific and educational fields, in particular in the field of intellectual property management", - is specified in the cooperation agreement between the Federal service for intellectual property and the Russian State Social University (RSSU). The document was signed yesterday, on August 17, by the Head of Rospatent  - Grigory Ivliev and the rector of RSSU - Natalya Pochinok. The objectives of the Agreement are to coordinate and develop joint activities, related to educational, research, scientific and practical, methodological and innovative activities in the field of Intellectual Property Management (IP) and the implementation of additional professional programs in the field of IP, including the use of distance learning technologies. The parties intend to ensure that IP competencies are included in the RSSU educational programs of bachelors, masters and post-graduate students; to establish a methodological basis for formation of necessary competencies in the field of intellectual property and to train personnel in the areas of "Intellectual property management", "Jurisprudence".

The document also outlines the development of an Inter-University IP centre, which can be a key element in developing joint educational programs of the department and higher education institutions. The establishment of the Centre will have a positive impact not only on the development of education in this area, on the improvement of the quality of professional skills and on the number of graduates, having knowledge in the field of IP, but also the development of transfer of technology between college scientific centres, research laboratories, small innovators and probable investors — state corporations, large businesses, venture entrepreneurs.

"The development of intellectual property education is one of the most important steps towards an innovative economy." Only by using intellectual property to the fullest extent  our country will be able to take its rightful place in the elite of world technology leaders. Today, intangible assets — technologies, inventions, trademarks, software development, industrial designs protected by patents and certificates — become much more valued resources than raw materials or machines. And so, we need competent specialists at all stages of working with intellectual property: starting from patent researches and submitting an application to the marketing of IP and the commercialization of the results intellectual activity," statedthe Head of Rospatent - Grigory Ivliev, after the signing.
