The Federation Council held parliamentary hearings on the urgent tasks of the development of single-industry towns

The Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation on March 24 had parliamentary hearings on the theme “Challenges of single-industry towns’ development”.

The parliamentary hearings were held under the chairmanship of the Dmitry Azarov - Chairman of the Committee of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation for federation structure, regional policy, local self-government and affairs of the North. 

From the Republic of Tatarstan Mrs. Natalya Tarkaeva - Deputy Minister of economy of the Republic of Tatarstan, took part in the event. The presentation on the topic of parliamentary hearings was made by the Mayor of Naberezhnye Chelny Mr. Nail Magdeev.

The hearings highlighted the challenges and problems of single-industry towns, connected in particular with economic diversification of monoprofile municipalities on their territories, implementation of investment projects, creation of territories for socio-economic development ahead, launching programs of supporting small and medium-sized businesses, as well as issues related to the improvement of the quality of the city environment.
