Economic situation in Tatarstan discussed at Tatarstan Government House

On December 2 Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov held a meeting on main trends of social and economic development of the Republic of Tatarstan.
Participants of the meeting discussed current economic situation in Tatarstan and measures necessary for its development.
Opening the event, Rustam Minnikhanov noted the slowdown in global and regional economies, in particular, in the sphere of retail trade, agricultural industry, and GRP.
Tatarstan Minister of Economy Midkhat Shagiakhmetov reported on current economic situation in the republic. He informed that for 10 months of 2013 the increase in GRP made 2.3 per cent against last year’s 5.7 per cent for the same period. He noted that Tatarstan positions among other Russian regions are going down, especially in industry.
Currently, Tatarstan takes the 42d place by industrial production index, the profit of industrial enterprises has decreased from 157,6 to 135,8 bln rubles. Tatarstan enterprises are still behind global leaders in terms of labour efficiency. Agricultural production has decreased by 4 per cent for 10 months.
The increase in trade turnover made 3.4 per cent against 18.5 per cent last year.
The construction index forecast makes 100.1 per cent. The increase in amount of investments is expected to make 7 per cent.
There is also a slowdown in salary increase. The average salary for nine months made 24.9 thousand rubles, the arrears in salaries increased four times.
Ministers of relevant ministries made reports on development of certain industries.
Summing up, Rustam Minnikhanov asked Minister of Information and Communication Roman Shaikhutdinov to focus on developing prospective platforms, such as IT park in Naberezhnye Chelny town, and Innopolis.
As for construction sector, Rustam Minnikhanov believes that Special Economic Zone “Alabuga”, Innopolis and Kama industrial cluster will provide the required amount of work.
Tatarstan President also asked to pay attention to specialist training and their participation in economic development.
As part of the program, the Minister visited the Arsky Industrial Park, where he got acquainted with the current activities and long-term plans of the residents. During the inspection of the production facilities, Midkhat Shagiakhmetov held a substantive discussion with the heads of enterprises on capacity expansion and improving the efficiency of using the existing infrastructure.
Applications for the Start-Digital Technologies-1 competition (turn 2) are being accepted on the website of the Innovation Promotion Foundation until February 24. Individuals and legal entities, small business entities, can participate in it.
Rustem Mukhamedshin, Director of the Guarantee Fund of the Republic of Tatarstan, took part in a large–scale event - the strategic session of the Association of Small and Medium-sized Businesses of the Republic of Tatarstan, which took place on January 30, 2026 in Kazan at the Entrepreneur's House.
