Tatarstan delegation led by Midkhat Shagiakhmetov held a meeting with the leadership of the Islamic Development Bank in Bahrain
As part of a working visit to the Kingdom of Bahrain, a delegation of the Republic of Tatarstan led by Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of Economy of the Republic of Tatarstan Midkhat Rafkatovich Shagiakhmetov held a meeting with the Acting Director General of the Institute of Islamic Development Bank (IsDBI) by Dr. Sami Al-Suwaylem.
During the talks, prospects for cooperation between Tatarstan and the structures of the Islamic Development Bank were discussed. The parties paid special attention to the development of partnership (Islamic) financing mechanisms, as well as joint initiatives in the social and educational spheres.
"Today Tatarstan is at the forefront of the development of our country's relations with Islamic states. According to the decision of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), Kazan will become the cultural capital of the Islamic world in 2026. The city will become the center of many international cultural events, including well—known festivals, as well as new initiatives designed to introduce the culture of Russian Islam to the world," Midkhat Shagiakhmetov said during the meeting.
A separate point of the meeting was the issues of functioning and priority areas of activity of the Representative Center of the international organization AAOIFI in Kazan. The parties noted the significant potential for strengthening joint work in the development of social initiatives, the introduction of international standards of Islamic banking and the implementation of projects aimed at sustainable development.
The importance of exchanging experiences and joint programs in the humanitarian field, including the development of educational initiatives, professional development and staff training for the Islamic financial sector, was emphasized.
