On June 21, 2025, the Rosstat session "Statistics 2030" was held as part of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum. Data for life and business."
Today, worldwide, demand for high-quality and timely data outstrips supply, and technological innovations are becoming a key advantage in working with huge amounts of information.
At the end of last year, the Government of the Russian Federation approved a new Strategy for the development of state statistics and Rosstat until 2030. As part of the strategy, a single market for accessible data that meets the "quality standard" will be created. The reengineering of all statistical processes and a tenfold increase in the use of alternative data sources will accelerate the production of statistics by 1.5 times while reducing the reporting burden on businesses.
During the session, the speakers discussed how Russian and global statistics will develop in the next five years, what digital solutions in statistics will be applied in the near future, whether using alternative data can significantly reduce the burden on businesses, how to speed up statistical production without losing data quality, and what measures should be taken to generate a single market for high-quality and accessible data.
"The further development of regional and municipal statistics is of particular importance for the republic when making decisions at the municipal level. Today, the indicators of gross territorial product, industrial production index, shipments and investments in fixed assets, taking into account small business, are formed by Rosstat only at the level of the subject. To identify reserves for further socio-economic development, maximizing the potential and specifics of municipal districts, it is necessary to consider the possibility of developing data indicators at the municipal level," said Midkhat Shagiakhmetov, Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Tatarstan and Minister of Economy of the Republic of Tatarstan.
