24 April 2025, Thursday

A briefing on the results of the anti-corruption monitoring of the authorities of the Republic of Tatarstan was held in Kazan today.

During a press conference, Roman Amirkhanov, Deputy Minister of Economy of the Republic of Tatarstan and Head of the Department of Socio-Economic Monitoring, presented the results of anti-corruption monitoring conducted in the republic.

Anti-corruption has been a priority area of state policy in the Republic of Tatarstan since 2005, when the Decree of the President of the Republic of Tatarstan "On the Strategy of Anti-Corruption Policy of the Republic of Tatarstan" was approved. The state program "Implementation of the anti-corruption Policy of the Republic of Tatarstan" is currently being implemented, one of the key directions of which is to assess the state of corruption through monitoring studies.

The Deputy Minister noted that an integrated approach is used to effectively combat corruption in the republic, including regular monitoring, analysis and assessment of corruption, as well as the effectiveness of measures taken to prevent and combat it.

According to Roman Amirkhanov, anti-corruption monitoring in the Republic of Tatarstan is based on the use of various sources of information, including:

- sociological surveys of the population and entrepreneurs;

- analysis of state and departmental statistics;

- study of criminal and administrative offenses;

- analysis of citizens' appeals and publications in the media;

- anti-corruption expertise of regulatory legal acts.

The Deputy Minister paid special attention to the results of sociological research conducted since 2005. According to the 2024 survey, the corruption coverage (the proportion of respondents who faced corruption) was 9.6%, which is more than 2 times lower than in 2010 (21.2%).

There is a positive trend in a number of key indicators:

- decreased willingness of citizens to engage in corrupt relations (from 64.7% in 2014 to 41% in 2024);

- 72.3% of respondents are aware of the anti-corruption measures taken by the authorities, and 79.6% of respondents believe that anti-corruption measures can reduce corruption.

"The positive dynamics in the indicators of the sociological survey indicates the effectiveness of the state anti-corruption policy implemented in the Republic of Tatarstan. For further development, it is necessary to continue preventive work, including with the younger generation, and to increase the literacy level of the population in terms of combating corruption," Roman Amirkhanov emphasized.

Following the briefing, the Deputy Minister noted that the key task is to change the worldview of citizens, to form a culture in which the very idea of entering into a corrupt situation would be unacceptable.
