More than 30% of small technology companies (STCs) in Russia became suppliers to the largest government customers in 2024. This is 10% more than a year earlier. The total amount of contracts reached almost 175 billion rubles, and their number exceeded 10 thousand. In Tatarstan, 58 STCs became suppliers to government customers, which provided the republic with the 3rd place in the country in terms of the number of suppliers.
Among the regions, the largest number of STC suppliers are in Moscow, St. Petersburg, and the Republic of Tatarstan.
Today, 176 small technology companies operate in Tatarstan, 32% of them, or 58 companies, became suppliers of goods and services to government customers in the amount of 3.54 billion rubles in 2024.
The largest volumes of contracts were signed by customers from the banking sector, nuclear energy and the aviation industry for software development, including as part of import substitution, as well as for the production of equipment and the supply of unmanned aerial vehicles.
"STC's participation in the procurement of major customers gives such enterprises a guaranteed long-term order and provides opportunities for further development. This, in turn, has a positive impact on the country's industrial potential, the strengthening of technological sovereignty and the qualitative growth of the SME segment. About 94% of small technology companies that are suppliers to the largest government customers are small and medium-sized businesses. They account for about 8,600 contracts totaling more than 119 billion rubles," said the First Deputy Minister of Economic Development of Russia Maxim Kolesnikov.
Software products (74.3 billion rubles), machinery and equipment (32 billion rubles), computer equipment (27.3 billion rubles), publishing services (15.5 billion rubles), and architectural services (13 billion rubles) became the most in demand by customers in 2024).
"Today, small technology companies — SME entities - are suppliers to the largest state-owned companies in the aviation, transport, nuclear industry, and financial sectors, supplying unique domestic products and solutions within the framework of import substitution, including for the operation of critical infrastructure facilities in the country. Moreover, it is worth noting the long—term nature of the concluded contracts, which indicates the formation of long-term demand for STC products by customers and the high discipline of execution on the part of such companies," said Alexander Isaevich, CEO of SME Corporation.
He explained that small technology companies also participate in supplier cultivation programs, which can result in offset contracts with them.
To support and develop STC as the main driver of technological entrepreneurship in Tatarstan, an ecosystem approach is being implemented, the essence of which is to provide STC with end-to-end support measures at each stage of development, both at the federal and regional levels.
The STC status allows seamless access to support measures, without additional collection of documents and confirmations. Companies from Tatarstan are actively participating in the grant program for the development of technology companies to meet the requirements of large Russian corporations. Since the beginning of the implementation of this program, small companies in the republic have received grants totaling 1.2 billion rubles for the production of goods for the needs of large customer corporations.
