As of the beginning of 2025, more than 110,000 individual entrepreneurs are operating in Tatarstan, of which about 46,000 are women. Over 142 thousand women are registered as self-employed in Tatarstan. The activity of the female population in business is facilitated by government support measures implemented, among other things, within the framework of the national project "Efficient and Competitive Economy" and federal projects within it.
"In Tatarstan, about 190,000 women operate as sole proprietors or self-employed. Businesswomen are actively involved in creative industries, innovation, the development of technological solutions, social and family businesses. And our task is to support and stimulate this activity, to provide tools and knowledge for starting, developing and scaling businesses within the framework of government programs and initiatives," said Midkhat Shagiakhmetov, Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Tatarstan and Minister of Economy of the Republic of Tatarstan.
Thanks to the activities of the national project and government support programs aimed at business development, Tatarstan businesswomen receive the necessary resources and knowledge to successfully launch and accelerate their projects. On the day of International Women's Day, the Ministry of Economy of Tatarstan shared the "success stories" of women in entrepreneurship.
There are areas in business that women traditionally choose to implement their projects, such as social, beauty, and education, but the vector is changing and the number of women entrepreneurs in all sectors of the economy, including the manufacturing sector, is growing.
One such example is the story of Smartkem LLC, run by Rosa Astafieva. The company is a distributor and importer of chemical raw materials for various industries. Thanks to government support measures, the manufacturer has mastered new foreign markets, and has also reduced logistics costs during cargo transportation by 3%.
An example of business development in the creative industries is the Alekseevskaya Art Weaving Factory. Under the leadership of enterprising women, it was possible to preserve and multiply the traditions of Russian patterned weaving. Thanks to government support in the form of grants and the active promotion of the factory at international specialized exhibitions, the production has increased its distribution line. New equipment was also purchased, which made it possible to increase the volume of products by 15%.
Individual entrepreneur Zimfira Yunusova is successfully developing the production of perfumes and cosmetics. Thanks to government support, the entrepreneur started export activities and mastered the market of Kazakhstan. With the help of the Export Support Center, she studied the principles of taxation and currency regulation necessary for conducting foreign economic activity.
The comprehensive support of the state allows Tatarstan women to realize their business ideas and make a significant contribution to the economic development of the region.
