Women's Entrepreneurship Day is celebrated in Russia today. More than 110 thousand individual entrepreneurs operate in Tatarstan, of which over 45 thousand are women. The share of women's entrepreneurship among sole proprietors has been relatively stable in recent years and amounts to 41% in Tatarstan.
More than 144 thousand women are self–employed in Tatarstan - 42% of the total number of self-employed citizens of the republic.
According to the CEO of the SME Corporation, since the beginning of the year, about 317 thousand sole proprietors have been created by women in Russia. The growth of interest is observed in such areas as employment and recruitment (+32%), construction (+30%), IT (+29%).
"The average age of a business from the moment of registration with representatives of the business community is 5 years 9 months, the average annual income is 5.3 million rubles. For men – 6 years and 3 months and 7.3 million rubles, respectively," said Alexander Isaevich, CEO of SME Corporation.
"There are areas in business that women more often choose to implement their projects – social, educational, services, beauty industry. But now the vector is changing, the proportion of women entrepreneurs in all sectors of the economy is growing. And our task is to support and stimulate this activity, to provide tools and knowledge for starting, developing and scaling a business," she commentedNatalia Kondratova, First Deputy Minister of Economy - Director of the Department of Entrepreneurship Development.
Natalia Kondratova added that the Ministry of Economy of the Republic of Tatarstan is always ready to provide comprehensive support within the framework of the national project "Small and Medium-sized Entrepreneurship" and help women start a business or scale it up. The SME Corporation also added that women entrepreneurs are more likely to receive government support, are more willing to share their experience of applying for such measures, and therefore are more knowledgeable. The share of support recipients among men is traditionally 7-10% lower.
There are more women entrepreneurs in such industries as the provision of social services (83%), other personal services (77%), clothing production (71%), travel agency activities (70%), education (69%), activities in the field of law and accounting (65%), textile production (63%), insurance (60%), veterinary activities (60%), employment and recruitment activities (59%) and others.
Among the self-employed, such areas as manicure and pedicure (99%), cosmetology (97%), babysitters (97%), stylists and hairdressers (92%), tailoring (91%) are almost completely occupied. The lowest proportion of self-employed women among car mechanics (3%), plumbers (4%), household appliance repair (4%).
The development of small and medium-sized businesses is being implemented within the framework of the national project "Small and Medium-sized Entrepreneurship", which was initiated by the President of Russia Vladimir Putin.
