Including the rehabilitation of the Volga – 1.4 billion rubles, the main event of which provides for a large-scale reconstruction and construction of biological sewage treatment plants (BSTP). The goal of the "Improvement of the Volga River" project is a threefold reduction in the share of polluted wastewater discharged into the river, improvement of water quality and overall ecology of the riverbed in the territory of the Republic of Tatarstan. In addition, the national project provides for the reclamation of landfills, eco-rehabilitation of rivers, and forest conservation.
As part of the implementation of the national project in Kazan and the village of Koshchakovo in the Pestrechinsky district, large-scale reconstruction and construction of the BSTP continues. Work is underway at both sites.
In addition, in 2021, the national project "Ecology" provides for the implementation of three more regional projects in Tatarstan – "Clean Country" with a funding amount of 146.7 million rubles, "Forest Conservation", for which 178 million rubles were allocated, and "Conservation of unique water bodies" with a budget of 22 million rubles.
