"The construction of this highway will increase the level of economic connectivity of the territories of Russia through the expansion and modernization of road infrastructure. The level of transport security of the subjects of the Federation will increase," said Shamsiev.

He added that the high-speed highway will pass through "promising centers of economic growth" and will provide a twofold reduction in travel time — from Kazan to Moscow it will be possible to drive in 6.5 hours.

"In the future, the new road will bypass heavy-duty and other transit transport, bypassing the busy hubs of Kazan," he stressed.
