Today, the President of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov met with the Governor of St. Petersburg Georgy Poltanchenko in the framework of the 22nd St. Petersburg International Economic Forum.
The Governover of St. Peterburg marked the dynamic development of relations between two regions. For instance, bilateral trade exceeded RUR 30 billion in 2016.
According to Georgy Poltavchenko, St. Petersburg and Tatarstan cooperate in a number of areas. "We have a very serious cooperation in the oil and gas industry and the production of various equipment. A number of joint projects are being implemented in tourism", - he said.
Georgy Poltavchenko noted medicine and pharmaceuticals as one of the promising areas of cooperation. "A serious pharmaceutical cluster develops in St. Petersburg. We want our partners, including Tatarstan, to be the consumers of our products, - the Governor of St. Petersburg added.
Rustam Minnikhanov congratulated the governor and all citizens of St. Petersburg on the forthcoming 315th anniversary of the founding of St. Petersburg. "St. Petersburg is the pride of our country", - he emphasized.
Also the President of the Republic of Tatarstan noted a high level of organization of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum: "I participate in the forum every year and want to admit that by no means it is inferior to the forum in Davos. This is an excellent platform providing all conditions for developing contacts with international partners".
At the meeting, the parties expressed willingness to further development of bilateral trade and development of joint projects.
Then Rustam Minnikhanov and Georgy Poltavchenko signed an Action Plan for the implementation of the Agreement on Cooperation between Regions. The agreement was signed in 2016 as part of the visit of the Governor of St. Petersburg to Kazan. According to the information on the official website of the President of the Republic of Tatarstan, the document provides for joint activities in trade, economy, science, technology, social sphere and culture.
