On September 13, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov took part in a ceremony to launch a new Belgium Drylock Technologies plant for the production of hygiene products in the Alabuga Special Economic Zone. According to Drylock Technologies CEO Bart Van Malderen, a total of 40 million euros were invested in the project, which will pay off in five years.

Tatarstan President thanked CEO of the company for choosing the Alabuga Special Economic Zone as a site to localize production facilities.

As noted at the event this is the second plant in Russia. The first plant is located in Nizhny Novgorod. By commissioning the plant in the Alabuga SEZ, investors plan to meet the region's need for sanitary and hygienic products. The company is engaged in the production of absorbent underwear and hygiene products for women, children and low-mobility groups such as diapers and special products for people with urological diseases.

"This is the first project in its segment. The project and technology are innovative and aimed at import substitution of goods and the development of the domestic chemical and timber industry for the production of raw materials, as well as improving social protection of the population,” representatives of Drylock Technologies said.

The new plant is designed for 14 lines with gradual commissioning. To date, the fifth line is expected to be delivered. The plant was constructed in several stages with a short break. The company became a resident of the Alabuga SEZ in 2013, the construction of the plant was frozen in 2014. In 2015, the investor decided to continue the project.
