19 June 2017, Monday

Today  a solemn ceremony dedicated to putting into commercial operation of the gas turbine unit (GTU) installed on the Kazan CHPP-3, was held with the participation of the President of the Republic of Tatarstan -- Rustam Minnikhanov. The Ministry of Economy of the Republic of Tatarstan was represented by Minister - Artem Zdunov.

A new installation based on GTU 9HA.01 has been built without involving the mechanism of the CSA (Capacity Supply Agreement) program and the additional financial burden on the consumers of the Republic. After the energy unit was put into operation, the production performance of the power plant was significantly improved. The utilization rate of the installed electrical capacity increased by more than 1.5 times, and the cost of fuel decreased by more than 30%.

In addition, the implementation of the project by 3 times increases the generation of electricity in the combined cycle on KCHPP-3, thereby reducing the existing electrical power deficit in  Kazan energy area and increasing the reliability of power supply to major industrial enterprises and the people of Kazan.

"It is more effective, than the existing energy units, this is a good example, and this is the best installation, which is designed and delivered by the company "General Electric", and we have further plans for cooperation, which suggests that the energy efficiency of our plants will be improved", - said Rustam Minnikhanov.

We remind that the contract for the modernization of Kazan CHPP -3 on the basis of GTU concluded between TGC -16 and the  subsidiary company LLC GeE RUS was signed in 2014. The Kazan CHPP-3 became the second power plant in the world where this type of GTU was installed.
