Mr. Artem Zdunov laid flowers to the monument to Musa Jalil in the city of Naberezhnye Chelny

10 May 2017, Wednesday

The annual celebration of the Victory Day in the city of Naberezhnye Chelny traditionally  begins with laying flowers to the monument to the Hero of the Soviet Union - Musa Jalil.

On this day military men, representatives of non-governmental organizations, children and students gathered to commemorate and pay tribute to the poet.

During the event the participants read poems about war, reminding of the complicated twists and turns in the fate of our compatriots, who managed to go through unimaginable obstacles and give a peaceful sky to the whole world.

The Minister of Economy of the Republic of Tatarstan - Mr. Artem Zdunov and Mayor of Naberezhnye Chelny - Mr. Nail Magdeev, attended the flower-laying ceremony.

Mr. Artem Zdunov thanked the young people of Naberezhnye Chelny: "Dear guys, thank you so much for having plunged us into the atmosphere, which we studied in the Soviet textbooks. They clearly stated all the horrors of war, all crimes of fascism. That war is bitterness for many people in the world, and for our country, resulting   in loss of tens of millions of people. That is why, it is very important for us to keep the memory of this devastating tragedy. That succession of generations, shown in Naberezhnye Chelny is the best tradition of the city. I'm sure that you will carry the memory of the war heroes through years and will remember them forever. Thank you so much. Happy holidays to you!

Mr. Nail Magdeev in his turn noted that the name of the patriot poet Musa Jalil sounded in the hearts of the people as an example of courage, fortitude, heroism and selfless service to the Motherland, who left a trace in the people's memory.

"I think that it is absolutely true that we begin every year the celebration of May 9 from laying flowers to Musa Jalil. He, being imprisoned by Nazists, believed in Victory, lived with the ideals of goodness and justice. These ideals triumph today in the 21st  century throughout our planet. So let us, today again remember our heroes both famous and anonymous, who made all for that we lived on our beautiful fertile Chelny land, worked and raise our children, enjoy happy life, «- he said, wishing them all good health, happiness and prosperity.

We remind that Musa Jalil was posthumously awarded the title of the Hero of the Soviet Union in 1956. Musa Jalil had a complicated fate. Being seriously wounded, he was taken in prison, where he created an underground network of war prisoners and fought with the enemy. He was arrested by the Gestapo and after being tortured he was executed in prison. In prison, he wrote wonderful poems, which today are the world literary heritage.

The spring of Victory - May 1945 - came in a year after the poet's death. And a year later "The notebooks of Moabit" were delivered to the Motherland. Every adult knows his poems and child, his name is given to hundreds of streets in Tatarstan.
