As part of a meeting on discussion of the current state of single-industry towns in the Republic of Tatarstan amid the deteriorating situation due to the spread of a new coronavirus infection, the socio-economic situation of single-industry towns, as well as measures to support various development institutions that are available to entrepreneurs were considered. The meeting was chaired by Alfiya Kogogina, Deputy of the State Duma, Chairman of the Expert Council of the State Duma on Sustainable Development of Single-Industry Towns.
“Today we need to assess the preliminary results of implementation of state support for sustainable development of single-industry towns of the Republic of Tatarstan: diversification of their economy, creation of new jobs, preservation of incomes of the population and attraction of investments. We proceed from the assumption that state support for single-industry towns should be comprehensive and built on the principle of multi-channel in such a way that various development institutions such as the Industrial Development Fund, the SME Corporation, the Single-Industry Towns Development Fund, the Housing and Utilities Development Fund and others implement their programs, and local authorities should help entrepreneurs and municipalities receive these support measures. The purpose of today's meeting is to hear the opinion of the heads of single-industry towns of native Tatarstan, their problems for further work at the federal level”, said Alfiya Kogogina.
Representatives of all seven single-industry towns of Tatarstan also spoke at the meeting. They talked about the current socio-economic situation of single-industry towns and the issues that entrepreneurs face when implementing investment projects.
Based on the results of the discussion, recommendations were considered to increase awareness and accessibility of provided support measures for entrepreneurs aimed at reducing mono-dependence and increasing the sustainability of the economy of municipalities.
