Tatarstan shared its experience in export development

Within the framework of the International Export Forum “Made in Russia” a round table “A word for the regions. Master class from the governors. Best practices” was held. The President of the Republic of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov spoke at the forum by videoconference.

The event was attended by Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Tatarstan - Minister of Economy of the Republic of Tatarstan Midkhat Shagiakhmetov.

Rustam Minnikhanov noted that Tatarstan is an export-oriented region. About half of the volume of Tatarstan products is exported. The republic has been developing international relations for about 30 years. Promoting its products to foreign markets, working with foreign investors, strengthening cultural and humanitarian ties, Tatarstan acts within the framework of a single Russian foreign policy. “The basis of successful work in the international arena is constructive interaction with federal authorities, joint support of our projects”, the President of the Republic of Tatarstan said.

Rustam Minnikhanov said that the republic is actively engaged in foreign trade with more than 130 countries. Strategic partnership is developing with the CIS, BRICS, SCO countries. Many leading world brands are also represented in Tatarstan.

In terms of foreign trade turnover, the republic ranks 6th among the constituent entities of Russia and 1st place in the Volga Federal District, the President of the Republic of Tatarstan said. In 2019, foreign trade turnover amounted to $ 15.7 billion, incl. export - $ 12.6 billion. The export structure includes not only oil, but also a wide range of chemical and petrochemical products, mechanical engineering, food products and raw materials, medical equipment and pharmaceuticals, and various services.

Rustam Minnikhanov stressed that Tatarstan pays great attention to investment activities. The investment infrastructure is being improved, state investment institutions are developing, measures to support investors have been developed. Tatarstan is the leader of the Russian national rating of the state of the investment climate. Since 2010, the republic received about $ 12 billion of foreign investment. The products of the joint ventures being created are not only distributed in Russia, but also exported.

In pursuance of the instructions of the President of the Russian Federation to increase the export volumes of non-primary non-energy goods, the Strategy for the Development of Export in the Republic of Tatarstan until 2025 was adopted. The work of the republican authorities is carried out in constant cooperation with the REC. The RT Export Support Center operates. Its activities are aimed at promoting the export of SMEs, facilitating access to financial and non-financial support measures for exporters through REC. The Export Council of the Republic of Tatarstan was also created.

Rustam Minnikhanov drew attention to the fact that the most important area of ​​work is to increase the competitiveness of products of republican enterprises. This work is closely interconnected with attracting investments, international cooperation with leading world companies.

Particular attention is paid to foreign visits and negotiations with foreign delegations. “We strive to establish official contacts at the interregional level. This is a good support for cooperation. We include business representatives in the official delegations, we envisage holding business forums and round tables with foreign partners in the visit programs”, the President of Tatarstan emphasized.

The Republic of Tatarstan hosts international events of the highest level. At the same time, new opportunities are opening up to present the economic and investment potential of the republic, establish important business contacts, and make Tatarstan and its products more recognizable in the world. The contractual basis for cooperation is being improved.

Rustam Minnikhanov noted that diplomatic institutions operating in Kazan contribute to the development of international relations. Active interaction with a number of international organizations is underway. “Tatarstan also has a developed network of 14 representative offices abroad of various status. They supervise all areas of cooperation”, the President of the Republic of Tatarstan noted.

Rustam Minnikhanov also spoke about work with compatriots living abroad, the widespread use of information technologies and the training of specialists in the field of foreign economic activity.

“To move forward, one should set ambitious goals, establish constructive joint work and believe in oneself. In current difficult time, new opportunities are opening up, we must look for them”, concluded the President of Tatarstan.
