On April 20, an online meeting of the Ministry of Economy of the Republic of Tatarstan, the MONOGORODA.RF Fund and the seven single-industry territories of Tatarstan took place. Support measures for business were discussed with city heads, as well as partnership opportunities for enterprises from single-industry towns in terms of production to combat the spread of new coronavirus infection.
Despite the difficult socio-economic situation caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, the Republic of Tatarstan continues to implement investment projects aimed at attracting investment, creating new jobs, supporting small and medium enterprises and, ultimately, diversifying the economy of single-industry towns. To preserve production capacities and jobs today, many enterprises are re-focusing their activities on manufacture of protective equipment to combat the spread of infection.
So, in Naberezhnye Chelny, Kamaz launched production of a full set of personal protective equipment on its premises; more than 6,000 protective suits have already been manufactured. The company supplies costumes to city clinics. In Nizhnekamsk, a resident of TASED “Iron Industry Company” launched a large-scale production of disposable protective masks in the amount of 5 million pieces per month.
Russian single-industry towns are ready to lend a helping hand to each other regarding the production of protective equipment. So, in the framework of the meeting, the heads of republican cities responded to the Fund’s proposal to provide those single-industry towns of Russia where there is a shortage with their protective products. Now the Fund is compiling a list of enterprises of single-industry towns producing products for the fight against coronavirus for shipment to heads of territories experiencing the need for personal protective equipment. Offers of Tatarstan single-industry towns will also be included in this list.
