The Agency for Strategic Initiatives to Promote New Projects (ASI), along with the other 14 constituent entities of the Russian Federation, has chosen the Republic of Tatarstan as a pilot region to develop proposals for creating conditions for entrepreneurship of Russians under 18 years of age. Young Tatarstan citizens will be assisted in implementation of their business ideas through work with investors and partners, as well as in preparation of patents in the field of high-tech developments and in obtaining grants. It is planned that the development of support measures in this direction will be carried out by local authorities in close cooperation with young entrepreneurs.

“Tatarstan was chosen as one of the pilot regions by chance. The business sector plays an important role in the further socio-economic development of the country, which should now be guided by the younger generation. For this, there are quite a few events in Tatarstan today that contribute to disclosure of the entrepreneurial potential of the republican youth. An annual school charity fair is held, where future businessmen can not only demonstrate their projects, but also sell their own products, and spend part of the proceeds on charity. In addition, starting from the age of 14, young entrepreneurs have the opportunity to register as self-employed, which allows them to officially conduct their business, expanding the circle of potential customers”, said Farid Abdulganiyev, Minister of Economy of the Republic of Tatarstan.

Let us recall that in Tatarstan, various events aimed at developing financial literacy, leadership and business competencies in adolescent children has been held not a single year. Among them are the Factory-Children course of the Entrepreneurship Factory project and the School Business Companies program. In 2019, the republic also hosted major events promoting the convergence of innovative creativity and entrepreneurship, such as the RUKAMI festival of ideas and technologies, the All-Russian contest of rural schoolchildren AgroNTI-2019.

In the context of the ASI pilot project, in particular, it is planned to attract mentors with practical business experience in vocational guidance and social studies; formation of skills in conducting business negotiations; work with regional platforms for supporting entrepreneurship in order to involve their residents in mentoring and investing in the business ideas of young people under 18 years of age.
