About 53 thousand of self-employed chose Tatarstan as their region of activity

28 November 2019, Thursday

Since January 2019, about 53 thousand self-employed people, who have been registered in "My tax" app, indicated the Republic of Tatarstan as the region of their activity, including 48.1 thousand self-employed people registered in the Republic, and about 5 thousand citizens of the regions neighboring Tatarstan.

The new tax regime is currently in effect in 4 pilot regions: Republic of Tatarstan, Moscow, Moscow and Kaluga regions. Its residents have access to unprecedented low tax rates and the ability to administer the business through the mobile application "My tax" without the need to visit the tax and reporting. In general, more than 290 thousand people have become self-employed in Russia.

"The new tax regime due to its simplicity and accessibility is of great interest, including residents of the regions closest to Tatarstan: residents of Ulyanovsk, Ufa, Izhevsk, Yoshkar-Ola are registered as self-employed", - said Emil Hismatov, a leading specialist of the Department of development of support institutions for small and medium-sized businesses of the Ministry of economy of Tatarstan.

The government of the Russian Federation also drew attention to this trend. The phased introduction of the tax for the self-employed leads to the business "migration " between regions. Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev suggested that the Ministry of Finance and the Federal tax service "think about how to survive this transition period."

From January 2020, the tax on professional income will be available to residents of 19 more regions of the country, and from July 2020 will be extended to the whole of Russia. On November 21, the state Duma deputies adopted a bill in the first reading, according to which from January 1 next year, the experiment on levying a tax on the self-employed will include St. Petersburg and the Leningrad region, Bashkortostan, the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous district, the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous district, the Nenets Autonomous district and a number of regions.

Note that the self-employed has the right to change the place of business no more than once in a calendar year. In case of termination of activity in the territory of the selected region, the self-employed person will have to choose another region included in the experiment.
