Tatarstan delegation participates in the XVI session of the Joint intergovernmental Russian-Turkish commission on trade and economic cooperation

July 24-26, 2019, the 16th meeting of the Mixed intergovernmental Russian-Turkish commission on trade and economic cooperation (Intergovernmental commission) is held in Antalya (Turkey) under the co-chairmanship of the Minister of trade of the Republic of Turkey Mrs. Rukhsar Pekjan and the Minister of energy of the Russian Federation Alexander Novak - the head of the Russian delegation.

Russia and Turkey are important economic partners in industry, construction, energy, and a constructive dialogue between the countries is a guarantee of the development of further cooperation.

Tatarstan is one of the leading regions of Russia in terms of trade, economic and investment cooperation with Turkey. This was emphasized by the head of the Russian delegation Alexander Novak in his speech.  In particular, the Minister of energy of the Russian Federation noted the large-scale work of Turkish companies in SEZ "Alabuga".

"About 25% of Turkish investments in the Russian economy are concentrated in Tatarstan, which is more than $ 2 billion",  said Minister of economy of the Republic of Tatarstan Farid Abdulganiev. He also said: "At the same time, we and our Turkish partners see great potential for expanding our cooperation."

Thus, the Turkish SEZ "Gebze", the first special industrial zone in Turkey, fully financed by investors without lending, expressed its readiness to act as an operator for the development of an industrial Park in Tatarstan.

In 2018, the trade turnover between Tatarstan and Turkey increased by 3.3% and amounted to $ 314 million. Exports decreased by 16.9% to $ 120 million, imports increased by 21.5% to $ 194 million. In may 2019 Mrs. Rukhsar Pekjan noted that the volume of bilateral trade between Turkey and Tatarstan should reach $ 1 billion
