Today, the Chairman of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of Russia, Valentina Matvienko, met with the President of the Republic of Tatarstan, Rustam Minnikhanov, and the Chairman of the State Council of the Republic of Tatarstan, Farid Mukhametshin.
The event took place in the framework of the Days of the Republic of Tatarstan in the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation.
At the meeting with the leadership of the Republic of Tatarstan the Chairman of the Federation Council discussed issues of the socio-economic development of the region.
Representatives of the Federation Council from the executive and legislative (representative) body of state power of the Republic of Tatarstan Oleg Morozov and Ildus Akhmetzyanov took part in the conversation.
Valentina Matvienko noted that presentation of the constituent entity of the Federation in the Federation Council was a good opportunity to demonstrate at the federal level the achievements of the region, to talk about problematic issues.
“Tatarstan is one of the leaders, a sample region”, said Valentina Matvienko, adding that the best practices of the republic will generate interest in other regions of the Federation.
According to Valentina Matvienko, in the course of extended meetings of the committees of the Federation Council, substantial work was carried out with participation of representatives of Tatarstan.
Rustam Minnikhanov also praised the practice when the region represents itself in the Federation Council. “Any region has experience that may be useful for other constituent entities of the Russian Federation”, he said.
The President of Tatarstan stated that the region always felt the principled position of senators on supporting the constituent entities of the Federation.
Valentina Matvienko, together with the leadership of the Republic of Tatarstan, also opened an exhibition of the Republic of Tatarstan in the Federation Council dedicated to the Days of Tatarstan in the upper house of parliament.
