The intellectual property in this ranking refers to inventions (patents), useful models and industrial designs. Their use reflects to some extent the scientific and technical creativity of the subjects of the Russian Federation, corporations, companies, specific production.
The first ten ratings for the use of the intellectual property in economy include: Moscow, the Republic of Tatarstan, St. Petersburg, Perm, Moscow, Novgorod, Sverdlovsk, Tula, Samara and Chelyabinsk Regions. The regions occupying the first places, are also leading in the number of employees in the scientific and technical field, which is noted in the study.
The regions-leaders play the role of drivers of the country's economy and human capital. Their budgets are either full, as the budgets of the autonomous entities of the Russian Federation, or are supported at a nominally sufficient level by regional authorities.
