On August 10, at a session of WorldSkills General Assembly in Sao Paulo (Brazil) it was announced that Kazan won the right to host WorldSkills Competition in 2019.

Interim President of the Republic of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov took part in presentation of Kazan as a candidate city for hosting WorldSkills Competition in 2019.

Deputy Chairman of Russian Government Olga Golodets, Director of WorldSkills Russia Pavel Chernykh, Director General of Rosatom Corporation Sergey Kirienko and Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin spoke at the presentation.

Representatives of Russian ministries and agencies, enterprises and educational organizations came to Brazil to support Kazan. Belgium’s Charleroi and France’s capital Paris also fought for the fight to host the competition, but the majority of the jury voted in favor of Kazan.

“I am very glad to see you here. Our city is rapidly developing, and we understand that not all countries have enough resources to take part in such competitions. We are ready to render financial assistance to everyone willing to take part in WorldSkills 2019 in Kazan,” Rustam Minnikhanov said. He noted that hosting WSC-2019 in Kazan was his dream.
