Over the year, the number of people employed in small and medium-sized enterprises in Tatarstan increased by 99 thousand people

In the Republic of Tatarstan, the number of people employed in the SME sector, including sole proprietors and the self-employed, amounted to 896.2 thousand people in the first quarter of 2024, which is 12.4% higher than the level of the same period in 2023, or 99 thousand people.

In terms of the number of people employed in SMEs, including sole proprietors and the self-employed, Tatarstan ranks first in the Volga Federal District. Today, small and medium-sized businesses in the republic account for a quarter of the GRP, as well as more than 44% of the total number of people employed in the region's economy.

In general, according to the results of the 1st quarter, compared with the same period last year, there was an increase in the number of people employed by legal entities and sole proprietors by 13.6 thousand people or 2.7%, the number of unique sole proprietors by 7.9 thousand or 10.7%, the number of self-employed by 77.4 thousand people or — by 35.7%.

The development of small and medium-sized businesses is facilitated by a comprehensive system of federal and republican support measures, including those implemented within the framework of the national project "Small and Medium-sized Enterprises" and aimed at expanding production and implementing new investment projects. The volume of support for republican entrepreneurship in 2023 exceeded 87 billion rubles.
