A delegation from VEB.RF visited KAMAZ

26 January 2024, Friday

On January 26, as part of the business mission of the Agency for Strategic Initiatives (ASI) and VEB.RF in the Republic of Tatarstan a delegation of the State Development Corporation VEB.RF headed by Chairman Igor Shuvalov visited KAMAZ PJSC. He was accompanied by Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Tatarstan - Minister of Economy of the Republic of Tatarstan Midkhat Shagiakhmetov.

On the part of KAMAZ PJSC, the guests were met and accompanied by Irek Gumerov, Deputy General Director – Director of Development of the company, Zhanna Khaliullina, Deputy General Director for Personnel Management, Organizational Development and Corporate Governance, and other managers.

During the visit, the Chairman of the State Development Corporation VEB.RF Igor Shuvalov and members of the delegation visited the KAMAZ Scientific and Technical Center, where they were presented with the KAMAZ-6282 electric bus with night charging.

Along with the commercially available KAMAZ-6282 large class electric buses with ultrafast charging, the company has developed an electric bus with night charging - KAMAZ-6282 ONC. The new model has retained all the advantages of the "classic" KAMAZ-6282 model, but it is charged at night, after hours, at cheap electricity tariffs. Thus, this zero-emission ecological mode of transport does not waste time charging during the day, which increases the performance of transport work. This model of electric bus is distinguished by a lower cost of charging infrastructure, since it does not require ultra-fast charging stations on routes. This type of electric buses has an increased capacity of traction batteries, which implies a large amount of mileage on a single charge. The range of the KAMAZ-6282 ONC electric bus is up to 285 km.

The presentation of the Atom platform was also held at the STC site. Atom is an advanced project of the Russian electric car gadget, combining modern achievements of the automotive industry and advanced developments in the field of information technology. The project is at the final stage of development and preparation for the start of commissioning for the start of mass production.

By the autumn of 2023, 13 copies of the serial version of the Atom electric vehicle platform were created, testing will take place until mid-2024. Today, the platform in the testing stage is a set of constructive, production and design solutions that are designed to create several models of electric cars. It will be used to configure, calibrate and test such parts of the electric vehicle as the chassis, the body support, steering control, braking and thermostating systems, electric drive, traction battery, electronic driver assistants ADAS and much more.

As for the size of the Atom platform, its width is 1615 mm, length is 3995 mm, ground clearance is 170 mm, and the wheel size is 215X55, from 17 to R19. The MacPherson type front suspension and the rear multi-link independent suspension provide the maximum level of safety and comfort, and the small turning radius (4.9 m) contributes to excellent maneuverability in a limited area. The Atom platform supports both "fast" and "slow" electric charging stations, has 1000 guaranteed cycles and GB/T standard ports. "Fast" charging up to 100 km takes 8 minutes.

The next point of the business program was a visit to the Kama Industrial Park "Master", which is part of the KAMAZ structure. The Industrial Park in Naberezhnye Chelny, established in March 2004, today unites 290 resident enterprises, which employ more than 12.5 thousand people. The industrial and office areas of the park have increased tenfold over the years of its existence – up to 1.5 million square meters. The estimated total turnover of all tenant enterprises in 2023 amounted to 180 billion rubles, the total amount of tax payments to budgets of all levels was about 19 billion rubles.

Accompanied by Farid Zakirov, General Director of Kama Industrial Park Master JSC, the guests visited the production sites of three residents located on its territory: Polychem Systems LLC, Naberezhnye Chelny Pipe Plant LLC and Idun Clutch RUS LLC. Each of these enterprises, carrying out its activities, attracts investment resources to the economy, increases production potential and forms an additional tax base.

In addition, Igor Shuvalov was presented with the concept of the Olympus industrial Technopark, which will be located next to the KAMAZ Scientific and Technical Center. As Farid Zakirov said, in 2023, the implementation of a project to create an industrial technopark in the field of radioelectronic industry in Naberezhnye Chelny was launched. The base for the placement of this object will be the territory of a property complex located on land plots with a total area of 8.4 hectares and objects of unfinished construction with a total area of 6.1 thousand square meters. Currently, a construction and installation contract has been concluded, within the framework of which work has begun on the completion of the construction of the administrative building and landscaping of the territory. The implementation of the project will create about 900 new jobs.

The Center for Electronics and Batteries of KAMAZ PJSC will be the anchor resident of the Olympus Technopark that is being created. Its activities are aimed at the development and production of samples of electronic components for cargo and passenger vehicles with hydrogen fuel cells and electric traction, including software, power plant and electric transmission, which provide improved energy efficiency and environmental performance of vehicles.  The Advanced Cyberautotech Engineering School and the KFU University Startup Studio, created by Kazan Federal University and KAMAZ PJSC, will also be residents of the technopark. The main purpose of these projects is to ensure partnership with high-tech companies, create conditions for a new type of engineering training, carry out breakthrough developments and research aimed at solving problems corresponding to the world level of relevance and importance in priority areas of technological development of the Russian Federation.

The business mission of the Agency for Strategic Initiatives (ASI) and WEB.RF in the Republic of Tatarstan is taking place on January 26. The purpose of which is to form new projects and programs for the development of the region and the country as a whole together with representatives of local authorities, residents of the region, entrepreneurs and experts.
