Tatarstan Head Rustam Minnikhanov held a joint meeting of the Council and an extraordinary general meeting of members of the Association of Innovative Regions of Russia. The meeting was attended by Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Marat Khusnullin. The meeting was also attended by Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Tatarstan - Minister of Economy of the Republic of Tatarstan Midhat Shagiakhmetov.
At the meeting, it was announced that Ivan Fedotov was leaving the post of director of the Association. "It is worth noting the contribution made by Ivan Vladimirovich to the development of the Association. During the period of his work, a large number of seminars, round tables, business missions, including foreign ones, were held. Support for the popularization of youth technological entrepreneurship has been organized. The Association has strengthened its position and expanded from 14 to 18 regions," said Rustam Minnikhanov.
Alexander Smekalin, Director for Regional Development of RANEPA, was elected the new head of the AIRR. "Alexander Alexandrovich is well acquainted with the regional management structure. He worked as Chairman of the Government of the Ulyanovsk Region, then was responsible for regional development at the Agency for Strategic Initiatives. I am sure that Alexander Alexandrovich will make a significant contribution to the further development of the Association. We expect productive work on unlocking the innovative potential of our regions, promoting the development of high-tech and knowledge-intensive industries," said the Head of Tatarstan.
Marat Khusnullin congratulated Alexander Smekalin on his election to a new responsible post. "I wish success to all the leaders of our innovative regions. I ask you to pay attention to the strategic sessions held by the Prime Minister. We have a number of innovative sessions related to technological sovereignty, increasing labor productivity, and exporting services. It is necessary to see how the regions will integrate into this program," the Deputy Prime Minister added.
Since 2012, the Head of the Republic of Rustam Minnikhanov has been Chairman of the AIRR Council, the Ministry of Economy of the Republic of Tatarstan oversees the activities of the Association of Innovative Regions of Russia.
