Midhat Shagiakhmetov personally congratulated the Zelenodolsk veteran on the Victory Day

Today, Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Tatarstan – Minister of Economy of the Republic of Tatarstan Midkhat Shagiakhmetov together with the head of the Zelenodolsk district Mikhail Afanasyev visited the veteran of the Great Patriotic War Mikhail Fedorovich Balakhonov and personally congratulated him on Victory Day. The veteran does not attend the Victory Parade for health reasons. During the war, he served in the Baltic Fleet. 

Mikhail Fedorovich was drafted into the army in November 1944 from the Kursk region at the age of 16. He received a short training, after which he was sent as a sailor to the Baltic Fleet. By that time, his father and two brothers had died in the war. The veteran was awarded the Order of the Patriotic War of the 2nd degree and the medal for the Victory over Germany. After the war, he served 7 years in the military service, then came to Zelenodolsk, where he met his future wife, worked for 44 years at the plant named after Sergo. He has two children, two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Midhat Shagiakhmetov and Mikhail Afanasyev congratulated the veteran on the holiday, expressed their appreciation and gratitude, wished him good health, longevity and well-being, presented gifts, and listened to his poems, which he read by heart despite his 94 years.
