The Global Student Entrepreneur Awards (GSEA) is the premier international competition for students who own their business while continuing to study at a college or university. The award was organized with support of major global business communities: YPO Russia and EO Russia. This year, for the first time in 10 years, a project from the Republic of Tatarstan was presented in the international final of the competition. A 25-year-old postgraduate student of KFU Bulat Zamaliyev represented the region with his social and technological project “Digital Village”, for which, following the results of the competition, he was awarded a YPO Impact grant. Student participation in the competition was made possible, inter alia, thanks to the assistance of the Entrepreneurship Support Fund subordinated to the Ministry of Economy of the Republic of Tatarstan, whose experts were preparing an application for the project to be submitted to GSEA.
The solution allows to build an ecosystem of infrastructure, events in remote areas with poorly developed transport accessibility, food and medicine supply, and involve every villager in the digital economy, regardless of the availability of IT skills, a computer.
“We make it so that every resident in the village can easily buy and sell manufactured products online, use telemedicine, remote consultations - all benefits of the digital economy, since today many rural residents are divorced from all this. Thus, our project is socially oriented and aims to increase the availability of goods and services in the countryside, to help organize online sales to small businesses, and to help rural residents go through medical examinations through telemedicine tools”, said Bulat Zamaliyev, introducing his project.
“The project of Bulat Zamaliyev confirms that there is an active demand for entrepreneurship in the republic. It is especially valuable that representatives of the young generation create their business decisions, while offering socially significant projects that can really improve the life of Tatarstan people qualitatively, and not just bring money to the entrepreneur himself, noted RT Minister of Economy Farid Abdulganiyev. - The “Digital Village” ecosystem allows you to use the infrastructure existing in the villages - shops, councils, clubs - and transfer them to a modern format of work, organizing access to electronic services on their basis for residents. For remote territories, such projects to integrate villages into the digital economy are one of the few ways to engage the local population in full-fledged labor relations, ensure prompt supply of villages with necessary goods and increase the connectivity of these territories with the center”.
