1.3 thousand young professionals, 63 countries, 56 competencies: Kazan met the world championship on professional skills according to WorldSkills standards.
From 22 to 27 August 2019, Kazan hosts the world championship on professional skills by WorldSkills standards. Bright holiday of young professionals working specialties was not only a colorful show. According to experts, participation in the movement to promote working professions is a valuable contribution to the development of the country's economy.
WorldSkills International is an international movement aimed at popularizing working professions, raising the status and standards of training and qualification around the world. The Agency for strategic initiatives initiated Russia's entry into the WorldSkills movement. Russia was officially admitted as a member of this international organization on may 17, 2012. 7 years of Russia's participation in the championship Russia for the first time accepts participants from all over the world at home. The honorary role of the host of the championship was given to Kazan.
As noted by the head of the Agency for strategic initiatives (ASI) Svetlana Chupshewa:
"The WorldSkills competition gave a serious impetus to the popularization of [working professions], in the re-equipment of colleges with equipment, it has become a priority for our country. And the guys see success stories when they compete for them, when they can get a decent salary. This is the result of what is happening in Kazan."
For the first time in international competitions of professional skill Russia took part in 2013. The Agency for strategic initiatives co-founded the Union "Young professionals", which acts as a traffic operator in Russia.
"The revival of respect for the professions of labor, increasing their status in society – this is what will help our economy to develop and correct the imbalance in the labor market that was formed several decades ago. Our economy needs professionals in working professions: mechanics, engineers. They are needed all over the world: and in developed and developing countries, because without them it is impossible to develop any society", - said the Minister of economy Farid Abdulganiev.
Over the years, Russia has won the championship twice. In 2017, young professionals of Russia won the world championship in Abu Dhabi, in 2018 -- EuroSkills. Participants from Tatarstan, who won the first place in the medal standings of the final of the VII national championship "Young professionals" (WorldSkills Russia) 2019, were recognized as the most competent in the country. The winning team scored 447.5 points and received 55 gold, 47 silver and 39 bronze medals.
