Tatarstan and OZON will jointly develop online trading
Investments in the amount of 1 billion rubles and development of a modern sales channel for products of Tatarstan manufacturers: OZON and the Republic of Tatarstan signed an agreement on cooperation in development of online commerce.
The document was signed at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum. Under the terms of the agreement, the OZON logistics center with an area of 20 thousand square meters will be built on the territory of the industrial site “Zelenodolsk”. The volume of investment in the project will be 1 billion rubles. Thanks to its implementation, more than 500 new jobs will be created in Zelenodolskiy district.
“The development of e-commerce will allow our producers to quickly and easily explore new markets, increase trade volumes and thereby develop the economy of the republic. In addition to direct investment, partnership with OZON for us is also an additional investment in development of the economy of the future. I wish the company not to dwell on the planned volumes but to expand the potential of mutually beneficial partnership further”, said the Minister of Economy of the Republic of Tatarstan Farid Abdulganiyev.
OZON also announced its intention to equip the state and municipal institutions of Tatarstan with postal machines and points for issuing online orders.
“The development of e-commerce in Tatarstan is impressive - over the past year the number of orders placed on OZON platform has more than doubled, said OZON General Director Aleksandr Shulgin. - In Tatarstan, residents are very open to new trends, so we are confident that local producers are interested in the marketplace and, for their part, will support the growth of their business, giving a new sales channel, and ensure that millions of goods are available to consumers even in remote locations through the development of infrastructure and services of “last mile”.
As part of the pilot project, in the second and third quarters of 2019, OZON is ready to place more than 100 post offices in all multifunctional centers providing state and municipal services and other state and municipal institutions.
For large-sized goods, OZON plans to create points for issuing orders for the population on the basis of municipal enterprises.
In the second and third quarters of 2019, points for issuing large orders will be opened at 50 municipal enterprises.
In addition, in conjunction with the Social Insurance Fund of the Russian Federation, it is planned to implement a socially significant project to organize the delivery of technical means of rehabilitation, medicines and medical products to people with disabilities both at the post office and at the points of issue of orders.
