Tatarstan has launched a program to develop export sales through eBay for businesses in the republic

4 March 2021, Thursday

Tatarstan entrepreneurs are invited to participate in a training webinar on the basics of selling on eBay. The event will be held within the framework of the program for export sales development and of small and medium-sized entrepreneurship through eBay promotion, launched by the Export Support Center of the Entrepreneurship Support Fund of the Republic of Tatarstan together with the eBay marketplace and the ZoneSmart integrator company.

The event will be held online on March 10. To participate, you must register on the website: https://zonesmart.timepad.ru/event/1566810/.

Participants will be taught how to successfully conduct business on the platform — the secrets will be shared by experts with placing Russian products on foreign marketplaces experience.

"One of the most important issues for entrepreneurs is always the issue of ensuring the sale of their products. The e-commerce channel has proven its effectiveness, becoming one of the promising mechanisms for expanding sales markets in the international arena, especially during the pandemic. For the access of the Tatarstan business to the tools of product promotion in the Internet space, the Ministry of Economy of the Republic of Tatarstan constantly conducts training events on the placement, sale of goods and the entry of entrepreneurs to the world electronic trading platforms, in particular, such a major e-commerce player as eBay," said the Minister of Economy of the Republic of Tatarstan Midkhat Shagiakhmetov.

According to the results of the program for the development of export sales through eBay, the implementation of which will be yearlong, the organizers will select the best participants and provide them with a ready-made eBay account.  The account is fully ready for a free start and entrepreneur's products promotion.  Companies will only need a standard package of documents for registration and a product catalog. ZoneSmart will also train exporters to successfully conduct business on the platform — the secrets will be shared by experts with experience in placing Russian products on foreign marketplaces.

Roman Pustovalov, eBay Business Development Manager in Russia:

"According to eBay and Data Insight research, in 2020, the online retail export market reached a historic figure of 1.16 billion US dollars, an increase of 42%. This was influenced by many factors, but it should be noted that one of them was the increased interest of entrepreneurs from all over Russia to sell abroad. The Republic of Tatarstan is one of the ten most exporting regions on eBay — last year alone, more than 580 Tatarstan sellers sent about 60.000 goods to foreign buyers.

In addition, it is worth noting examples of successful implementation of the previous joint initiative. So, with the help of its official eBay store, "KAMAZ-master" sports team made more than 50 sales in the first month. They now ship their products to Germany, the United States, Belgium, Italy, Spain, Australia and France, but they plan to expand this list in the near future."

The package of subsidized services includes:

  • Registering an eBay and PayPal account;
  • Creating and designing an eBay store;
  • Loading up to 500 product cards (in the Automotive parts category — up to 10 000);
  • Training in working with the platform at the level of a professional seller;
  • Creating an individual eBay promotion strategy.

To participate, companies must meet the following criteria: be an SME, have a registered office in Tatarstan, and operate in the field of retail or wholesale trade in goods suitable for sale via Internet.
