The delegation of the Republic of Tatarstan, headed by President Tatarstan- Rustam Minnikhanov, is on a working visit to the Republic of Turkey

The delegation of the Republic of Tatarstan, headed by the President of the Republic of Tatarstan - Rustam Minnikhanov, visited the Republic of Turkey in order to participate in the work of the 86th Izmir International Trade Exhibition-Fair of Industrial and consumer goods IZMIR INTERNATIONAL FAIR-2017, which will take place from 18 to 22 of August.

The delegation included the Vice-Premier and Minister of Industry and Trade of the Republic of Tatarstan - Albert Karimov, the Assistant to President of the Republic of Tatarstan - Radik Gimatdinov, the Minister of Economy of the Republic of Tatarstan - Artem Zdunov, the Head of the Investment Development Agency of the Republic of Tatarstan - Talia Minullina, as well as the leaders and representatives of enterprises of the republic in active cooperation with Turkey.

This year, the Russian Federation is a country-partner of the Izmir International Fair. The Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation organizes the work of the Russian National Exposition, which promises to be the largest out of all the exhibits presented at the exhibition and will be placed in the pavilion No.4 in the area of above 600 square meters. The Republic of Tatarstan will also present its stand at the event. The stand is organized with the support of the Investment Development Agency of the RT and the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the RT.

The main purpose of Russia's participation in the exhibition is to promote external cooperation between the Russian Federation and the Republic of Turkey. This year, the main theme of the Izmir exhibition will be "Innovation and Energy". The national exposition of the RF will demonstrate the achievements in the field of energy; mechanical engineering, metallurgical and light industry; agro-industrial complex; investment cooperation, tourism. The exhibit will also present innovative products of Russian export-oriented enterprises.

The program of the working visit includes the participation in the luncheon of the Co-Chairmen of the Russian-Turkish Intergovernmental Commission, Russian Minister of Energy  - Alexander Novak, and the Minister of Economy of Turkey - Nihat Zeybekci, the address by the President of the Republic of Tatarstan to the plenary session of the Russian-Turkish business forum "The new stage of the Russian-Turkish partnership in the trade and economic sphere", holding of a series of business talks with the leaders and officials of the major Turkish companies and enterprises.

In addition, the President of the Republic of Tatarstan is scheduled to visit the new refinery "Star" of the SOCAR Company, whose construction work is performed by the company "Gemont", and to familiarize with the activities of the Aegean free economic zone.

In the second half of the day the official opening ceremony of the 86th Izmir International Exhibition and the presentation of the Russian Federation exhibit, as well as the Stand of the Republic of Tatarstan, and the exposure of other countries to the International Exhibition Fair are scheduled to take place.

For reference. According to the results of 2016, the bilateral trade turnover between the Republic of Tatarstan and the Republic of Turkey, according to the data of the customs of Tatarstan, was over 215.5 million USD, which is 3-4 times less than the pre-crisis indicators. In the first quarter of 2017, the scope of foreign trade between the parties reached 74.5 mln USD and there is a steady increase in bilateral cooperation. The shares of export and import transactions in the foreign trade structure between the Republic of Tatarstan and the Republic of Turkey amount on average to 63% and 37%respectively.

The basis of the products supplied by Tatarstan to Turkey is composed by rubber synthetics, plastics, organic chemistry, petroleum products, inorganic chemistry, synthetic detergents, polymer materials, wood products (plywood, timber products), black metal products, etc. Imports from Turkey are represented by vehicles, mechanical and electrical equipment, black and precious metal products, plastics, fur, leather and glass, furniture, rubber, flooring, pharmaceuticals and other products.

Cooperation is being provided for the supply of the Republic's petrochemicl goods to the Turkish market. Companies from Turkey are involved in projects for the construction of petrochemical complexes in the RT, and work is under way to develop the cooperation of Tatarstan and Turkey in the fields of electricity, construction and agricultural machinery, wood processing, glass, mechanical engineering and other fields.
