Strategy for Spatial Development of Russia is approved

Spatial Development Strategy of the Russian Federation for the period up to 2025 has been approved by Decree No. 207-p of the Government of the Russian Federation of February 13, 2019, this is reported on the official website of the Government of Russia. This is a strategic planning document developed within the framework of goal-setting on a territorial basis.

The purpose of the spatial development of the Russian Federation is to ensure a sustainable and balanced spatial development of the Russian Federation, aimed at reducing interregional differences in level and quality of life of the population, accelerating economic growth and technological development, as well as ensuring the national security of the country.

The strategy defines the objectives, principles, priorities and main directions of the spatial development of Russia, spatial development scenarios, promising centers of economic growth, macro-regions, promising economic specializations of the constituent entities of the Russian Federation, target indicators of spatial development of Russia.

As part of the implementation of the Strategy, it is envisaged to increase the accessibility and quality of the backbone transport, energy, information and telecommunications infrastructure, reduce the level of interregional differentiation in the socio-economic development of the Federation, reduce intra-regional socio-economic differences, expand geography and accelerate economic growth, science, technology and innovation development of Russia due to the socio-economic development of promising economic centers and other areas.

In accordance with the Decree of the Ministry of Economic Development of Russia, together with the interested federal executive bodies, within 3 months it is necessary to submit to the Government of the Russian Federation a draft implementation plan for the Strategy.
