Rustam Minnikhanov meets Minister of Trade and Industry of the Republic of India Suresh Prabhu

On September 12, on the sidelines of the 4th Eastern Economic Forum Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov had a meeting with Minister of Trade and Industry of the Republic of India Suresh Prabhu.

Minnikhanov emphasized that relations between Russia and India are based on strong traditions of friendship and are developing in the spirit of strategic partnership.

Tatarstan has a good experience of cooperation with India, he added. An official delegation led by Tatarstan President visited the states of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana in April this year. There were meetings were with the leadership of the Indian states, a business forum with the participation of business circles of Tatarstan and India was held and a visit of the delegation to the Farm City pharmaceutical cluster was organized. “We consider the cooperation with India in the pharmaceutical sector a very promising direction,” Minnikhanov said.

Good relations have been established in the trade and economic sphere. Tatarstan helicopters, KAMAZ trucks and petrochemical products are well known in India.

Minnikhanov briefed about the republic, focusing on key sectors of the economy such as oil production and refining, machine building, petrochemistry, aircraft and helicopter construction.

“It is very important for us to further develop fruitful cooperation with Indian partners,” Tatarstan President said. He invited Prabhu to Tatarstan and offered to host a Tatarstan - Indian Business Forum with his participation in the republic.

In turn, Suresh Prabhu noted the great potential of cooperation between India and Tatarstan in the areas of agriculture, IT, pharmaceuticals, oil and gas production.
